SMS for Business
As a developing country, we still cannot discount the importance of SMS or Short Messaging System for business use of SMEs or Small and Medium Sized Enterprises. This despite the surge of smartphone technology.
There are several reasons why:
1. Most SMEs operate on a budget.
2. Most SMEs cannot fully automate because they cannot have their own dedicated IT department.
3. Most of them are in an environment where internet infrastructure is limited or non-existent at all.
But one thing they sure can have is the mobile infrastructure of major telcos in the country. The infrastructure is already established. The facility has overtaken telephones or landlines in reaching remote areas of the country. This is where SMS or texting comes into the business scene.
